Abstract
212,213. Raymond, A. F. Feb. 28, 1923, [Convention date]. Stud - and - eye fastenings. - In a fastening, more particularly for securing the hood to the body of a motor-car, of the type in which an evelet in the hood is secured over a stud portion c on the car body k by rotation of the head a from either side of the body, the shanks b, g of the heads a, f, are connected by fitting them into a tube j capable of rotating in a cylindrical hole drilled in the body k. Complete endways withdrawal of the head a is prevented by a collar c fixed on the shank b and bearing against a plate e<1> between which and the bottom portion of the stud c is mounted a coil spring d, withdrawal of the head f from its socket h being prevented by a collar i fixed on the shank g or by lugs cut out from the shank. In modifications, the shanks, b, g may be threaded to screw into the tube j, or may be formed hollow to fit over end projections on the tube j, or the tube may extend so as to come flush with the inside of the car body and the head f secured thereto by pins, &c., or the tube may be dispensed with, in which case, the shank b is formed hollow to fit over the shank g. Instead of the head f projecting from the inside wall as shown it may be partially or completely countersunk in a recess therein. Specification 198,999 is referred to.
