Valves; regulating.-A measuring-valve for liquid fuel comprises a rotary disc a, Figs. 1 and 3, splined on a shaft k and moving between stationary ported plates b, Figs. 1 and 4, the disc being provided with a series of spirally-arranged pockets p, and the plates being adjustable to control the number of the pockets which are emptied. The plates b are each provided with a slot r adapted to register with the fuel inlet t and with a series of ports q of graduated sizes; the plates b are connected to the cover e, by adjusting which any one of the ports q is brought into register with the outlet u, thus controlling the number of the pockets p which are emptied. In a two-stroke engine, the outlet u is connected to the crank case, and the disc a is so set relatively to the crank shaft that the pockets p register with the outlet u and an air inlet s while the piston is moving towards the combustion head and before the air inlet is opened. In a fourstroke engine, the fuel is expelled by connecting the port s with a low-pressure air supply, or with the exhaust, through a non-return valve. The valve may be adapted to a multicylinder engine by providing each cylinder with its own series of ports, the disc a serving each in turn.
