Abstract
210,268. Luckett, F. H., and Lawrence, A. Le V. Jan. 15, 1923. Hubs-The invention is described as applied to the cover of a container for petrol &c., or other closure, but may be applied to a hub cover. The closure comprises three portions, a " necked " base ring 1 secured to or formed in one with the container and surrounding the filling opening, a plate carrying pivoted gripping-pieces 6, 7, Fig. 1, the inner edges of which are formed with spring tongues, and a cap 13 provided with a depending cam shaped as shown at 15, Fig. 4, and adapted on turning the cap to cause the gripping pieces to bear against the wall of the base ring thus holding the cover in position. To render the closure airtight a leather or other washer may be placed on the horizontal flange or neck of the base ring. The plate may also be formed with openings and the cap provided with a glass top to render the interior of the container visible.
