Abstract
209,958. Baud'huin, M. Jan. 18, 1923, [Convention date]. Gaseous-fuel furnaces; air supply, heating.-In a muffle furnace, enamelling stove &c. the air for combustion of the producer &c gas is heated by passing from the intake 4 through ducts 6, 7, beneath the flue channels 10, 18 to the chamber 8 over the fire box and is burnt with the gas &c. at 9. The channels for the hot gases pass completely round the furnace in series first by the passages 10 - - 13, in one direction and then by the passages 18 around the muffle in the opposite direction into the chamber 19 thence taking an U- shaped path 20 around the end face of the muffle into the flue 21, Fig. 7. In a modification in which two muffles are placed side by side the flue gases traverse an U-shaped path around a division terminating at the top of each muffle and are led awav bv the end of each muffle to the discharge flue. Inspection plugs 23 are provided at the ends of the channels 10 and a suitable regulating device is provided in the flue 21.
