Rotary tipplers.- Relates to apparatus of the kind in which a cradle c carrying the wagon is hoisted in guides b and is tipped by the hoisting ropes when bearing surfaces on the cradle come against bearing surfaces on the guides b. To prevent shock, the bearing members on the cradle are out of hue with the fixed pivots and are brought up to the pivots with decreasing velocity as the cradle approaches the top of the guides. As shown in Figs. 2, 3, and 9, rollers 1, 2, 3, 4 are provided on the cradle structure c which co-operate with guides t<1>, u, v and w respectively at the top of the vertical guides b so as to bring the bearing rollers 1 against concave surfaces o<2> on keepers, Fig. 3, at the top of the guides b. The rollers 3 engage recesses o<3> in the keepers so that the latter turn about the axis of the pin p when the hoisting chains are further raised to tip the cradle. The rollers 3 prevent tilting of the cradle during lifting. In a modification, a similar set of rollers and guides brings a concave bearing surface on the cradle against a fixed fulcrum pin at the top of the guides h. The arrangement of the winding drums f and the wagon holding means i, j, may be as described in Specifications 194,811 and 195,846 respectively. To limit the backward movement of the holding bar i, a frame 5 is provided, extending above the top of the guides b. The cradle and balance weights may move in inclined instead of vertical paths. The Provisional Specification describes hand- or spring-actuated stops or chocks which are inoperative when the cradle is in the normal position, but are moved into engagement with the wheels of the wagon when the cradle rises. Staiths and elevated structures.-The hoisting and tipping apparatus may be duplicated, the wagons emptying into a bunker 6 between the two sets, and the towers may be connected by gangways 9.
