Driving.-The brake 3 for the drum 2 of a centrifugal machine is at such a level that when the drum is being placed on its spindle 5, the sleeve 7 engages with the spindle before the base 8 of the drum reaches the brake level. Thus the drum will clear the brake or will only strike it with the rounded portion 8 if the brake is in its forward position.
