Abstract

A fluid cooled burner comprising a hollow fin 1 formed integrally with a tube 2 for carrying the fluid, the fin having an inlet 7 for the burner fuel and a plurality of nozzles 8 arranged along at least one longitudinal face of the fin so that fluid passing through the tube cools the burner. The hollow fin may be formed by a continuous U-shaped metal strip which is welded at its longitudinal free edges to the tube, which tube forms a closing wall 5 for the continuous U-shaped metal strip.The fin or the tube may be provided with continuous strips of metal forming 'bluff bodies' 9, 10, which form extended surfaces to promote the mixing of fluids flowing past the extended surfaces. <IMAGE>
