Abstract

A pipe joint in a pipeline is disclosed in which, to provide a certain freedom of movement of the joined pipes, two pipe ends in the form of sockets (8,9) are joined by a short pipe length (33) inserted in both of them, and sealed to both. The exterior surface of the short pipe length (33) has a low-friction, resistant coating. Alternatively, one pipe end (41) is inserted in a socket (37) at the other pipe end, the inserted pipe end having the exterior low-friction coating (42). <IMAGE>
