Abstract

A pipe joint comprising a tubular (steel) body 1 split through its axis into two halves and including means (holding lugs 7, 8) for fastening the two halves together; clamping means at each end 2 of the tubular body 1 for clamping the ends of coaxial (plastics) pipes inserted into the body 1, at least one of said clamping means comprising a serrated socket 3 at the end 2 of the tubular body 1; and an annular housing 4 for a seal located between the clamping means, the seal being an annular double lipped seal, the lips of which are adapted to seal around the pipe ends. Different embodiments are described for connecting (a) pipes of differing diameter, (b) one flanged, one plain pipe, and these incorporate individual damping at each end instead of lugs 7. <IMAGE>
