Abstract

198,205. Rushton, H. May 20, 1922. Stop - motions; thread guides.-Machines for folding or doubling silk, artificial silk, or other yarns or threads are provided with a tumbler lever B which, when an end breaks, is engaged by one arm c<1> of a detector lever C and moved so that a pin d' on the spindle head engages a pin b<3> and draws a hammer-head b on the lever between the spindle head and its driving pulley E. The hammer head is provided with a flat b<2> on which the spindle head rests after stoppage. The detector wires are mounted on hardwood or metal bushes F on wires G, and may be simultaneously lifted by a wire loop H. When the number of ends being doubled is less than the number of detector wires, the surplus wires may be held up by a plate N or by a coil spring M on a rod m. The traverse guide is provided with wires p, Fig. 2, which direct the yarn to the porcelain guide P.
