Abstract

Tension arrangements. - To wind spools in which the thread tension is uniform over the entire length of the spool, a winding-machine is provided with a tension-equalizing bar 21 and with a tension device 10, pivoted at 11 on an arm 9, which act on the thread as it passes from the bobbin 8 to the vertical winding-spool 1. The tension mechanism comprises a leading-in guide 12, two loosely-mounted weighted tensionwashers 14, a tension bar 19 having a threadgroove 20, and the vertically adjustable tensionequalizing bar 21. The bar 21 has a horizontal arm 23 which engages the thread while the traverse bar 2 is at the lower limit of its movement, thereby maintaining the thread tension uniform over this portion of the winding. The tension-washers 14 project considerably beyond the narrow coacting face of the device 10, and are arranged to lead the thread in a crooked path. Specification 22493/05 is referred to.
