Switches, quick-action of the rotary step-bystep type comprise an insulating base 1 with integral projections 5 in the form of teeth on diametrically-opposite faces of which the turned up ends 12 of combined contacts and terminals are secured by screws passing into the base through the holes 7. A bridging contact-member 11 with cup-shaped turned up ends is mounted loosely on the spindle 13 fixed to the base and is pressed down on to the contacts by a spring 17 located between the contact-member and a driving stirrup 16 which is held by a washer on the spindle. The handle has a polygonal recess fitting on to the driving stirrup to afford a driving connection and is maintained on the spindle by a nut 24. A shoulder on the handle prevents the removal of the cover which is held against rotation by a projection formed upon it engaging a notch in the base. When the handle is turned, the bridging contact-member rides up the teeth against the action of the spring and assumes the next position with rapid action. Additional fixed contacts may be employed to adapt the switch to different purposes.
