Switches, quick-action; contacts; covers. - A two-way switch, operated by a limited rotation of the cover in one direction or the other and applicable specially to the lighting system of a motor cycle, in which case it may be combined with the rear of the head lamp body, has the movable contacts formed on the inner side of the cover and projecting through an insulating-lining which serves to insulate the cover from the base and from the fixed contacts. In the construction shown, an insulating base b is held within a circular case a, and carrying four fixed contacts c, d, e, f and a central post h on which the cover j is mounted and pressed down by the spring k surrounded by a sleeve m. Three of the fixed contacts c, d, e are in triangular formation, and the fourth contact is a strap. The leads are secured to the fixed contacts by axial screws, as shown, and contact-surfaces n, o, p are pressed down from the cover so as to project through holes in an insulating underplate q and engage fixed contacts. A downward projection from the cover is located in a gap in the stem so as to limit the rotation of the cover. In one position, the contacts n, o engage the fixed contacts c, d to close the circuit of the high-power front lamp, and the rear lamp; in the intermediate position the switch is off, and in the other position the contacts d, c are engaged to light a low-power front lamp and the rear lamp. In all positions the contact p engages the contact f.
