Abstract

194,749. Marks, E. C. R., (Tuckaway Folding Ladder Co., Inc.). Nov. 14, 1921. Ladders. - Step-ladders of the type comprising a pair of spaced supporting - members and a number of steps which are hinged at their centres and pivotally connected to these members so that the side members are collapsable towards each other, have the supporting legs braced by bars 20 which are pivoted together and slidable on the side bars 2 of the supporting legs. Spring-actuated catches 19 fixed to the legs and a pivoted bar 23 maintain the braces against collapse when the ladder is in use. The side supports of the ladder comprise parallel members 1 connected by cross-members 5, 27 pivoted to them, the lower members 27 resting on the floor. To increase the grip and prevent marking of the floor surface, the members 27 may be covered with felt or like material.
