Abstract

752,736. Stepladders. CAPITAL CABINET MAKERS, Ltd. Aug. 27, 1954, No. 24926/54. Class 20(2). A folding step ladder is provided with a shelf 9 pivotally attached at 10 to the side members of the leg 3 above the hinge 5 which connects the legs 3 and 4, the shelf 9 being adapted either to swing downwards between the side members of the leg 3, or to swing over into a horizontal position in which it is supported by a cross bar 11 fixed to the upper ends of the side members of the leg 4 and in which position it is located at the top of the step ladder and is not obstructed in any way. A lower shelf 12 may be provided and this shelf is pivoted to the leg 3 at 13 and is adapted to be supported on. a cross bar 14 on the leg 4. When the shelf 9 is swung downwards between the side members of the leg 3 and the shelf 12 is swung upwards, the ladder may be folded.
