Abstract

192,099. Favata, F. F. July 20, 1921. Engines working on special systems or cycles. -The pressure in the cylinder of an engine is kept above atmospheric pressure by retaining therein a body of fluid preferably by prematurely closing the exhaust valve. The entrapped fluid is compressed and receives the initial charge of steam. In the engine, Fig. 6, the valve O, controls admission and exhaust ports P, P', T, T<1>. The cylinders are provided with compression chambers N for the retention of exhausting fluid. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 13953/06, 9117/08, 11378/13 and 100,284, [both in Class 7 (ii), Internal-combustion engines, Arrangement &c. of], 158,564, and 179,994, [Class 7 (vi), Internal-combustion engines, Valves &c. for].
