Abstract

4151. Christiansen, P. March 16. Lateral-splash guards for automobiles &c., of the kind in which the support for the guard is mounted by ball bearings upon a spigot on a cap fixed to the axle or hub of the wheel, have the support connected to the ordinary mud-guard by a spring 15 and a bar or strip 13, the lower end of which is located between a ring 6 upon the ball bearing and a strap 7 connected to the guard or screen. The cap may be secured upon the axle or hub by a split ring 4. The guard is suspended from the strap by tie-rods 9 and comprises two curved pieces 11 carrying brushes 10 or an india-rubber strip or the like.
