Abstract

Ploughs; cultivators.-A motor balance or semi-balance plough or cultivator comprises a main frame mounted on two main driving and steering wheels, and an implement frame arranged to slide through the main frame to bring the ploughing or cultivating tools into position. The motor is mounted on the rolledsteel main frame 1 and drives the main wheels 16 through the chain 3, reversing spur-gearing 5, 6, 7, 8, a shaft 9, compensating-gearing 17, bevel-gearing 12, 13, and spur-gearing 14, 15. The reversing - gearing is controlled by worm gearing and a spindle having a hand-wheel at each end. The wheels 16 are mounted on pivotally - mounted vertical frames 22, 22<A>, which are coupled together by a rod 23 and are turned for steering purposes 'by worm gearing 20, 21 and a spindle 18 having a hand-wheel at each .end. The main frame is strengthened by chains 25. The independent frame 10 slides through the main frame when one end is raised, so as to move the centre of gravity from one side to the other of the wheel axles and thus bring the other set of ploughs &c. into operation. Vertically adjustable skid wheels may be provided at either end of the frame 10.
