Abstract

5820. Davis, H. L. March 7. Buttons and button-fasteners.-In a button of the kind described in Specification 2683/14 the prongs g, Fig. 3, of the pronged component are provided with ribs h to stiffen them. Instead of ribs, the whole of each prong may be arched or curved as shown at i, Figs. 4 and 6. In a modification to prevent cutting or fretting of the material, slits are made in the base of each prong and the metal so slit is folded over as shown at j, Fig. 8, which represents a blank before being pressed up to form the pronged fastener. These prongs may also be ribbed or arched.
