Abstract
3720. Nesetril, J. Sept. 24, 1913. Roller-machines; feeding-appliances.-A composition for the manufacture of railway sleepers, such as are described in Specification 21,556/13, [Class 104 (ii), Railway and tramway permanent way &c.], consists of cement and fibrous material, such as asbestos, first mixed dry and then wet, the first mixing being effected by grooved rollers which place the asbestos fibres parallel. The asbestos is fed to the machine and cut up by a spiked roller 25 revolving in a spiked casing 26. The cement is fed from a hopper 27 by a roller 28. The two pass to two grooved rollers 29, 30, the ridges of one roller engaging with the grooves of the other. The rollers 29, 30 rotate at different speeds and arrange the fibres parallel to each other. The materials then pass to a casing 31, in which rotates a drum 32 carrying rollers 36 in its circumference. The axles of the rollers 36 are provided with pinions engaging with a circular rack. Water is supplied through perforated channels 33 on the drum 32. From the casing 31, the composition passes to a mould-box 47.
