Abstract
30,157. Frame, W. J. Dec. 29. Fixed-abutment type with sliding- rocking vane. A pump comprises a revoluble outer casing 1, Figs. 1 and 3, mounted upon stationary axles 8, 8<a>, Fig. 3. These axles also form bearings for an eccentricallymounted revoluble inner drum 2. A vane 4, fixed rigidly to the outer casing, passes to and fro in a rocking piece 5 in the inner drum as the casing and drum revolve. The fluid to be pumped passes through a port 11 to the interior of the drum 2, whence it passes through a port 15 to the working chamber. It is finally discharged through a port 16. The pump is driven by a belt 3 engaging the outer casing 1, and the pull of the belt maintains a tight contact between the drum and casing. The line of contact is adjusted by angularly adjusting the axles 8, 8<a>. In a modification, inlet ports are formed in both axles. In a further modification, the spindles of the drum 2 are mounted in eccentric bushings whereby the degree of eccentricity of the drum 2 with regard to the casing 1 may be adjusted. The invention is applicable to engines, blowers, &c.
