Abstract

190,315. Siddons, Ltd., J. & J., and Howles, W. R. Oct. 31. 1921. Balances, links and stays for.-Relates to weighing-machines of the Roberval type and ccnsists in forming the centre of the parallel motion stay with a triple knife-edge bearing. A view of the underside of the scale is shown in Fig. 3 with the stay 10 in working position. The ends of the stay are coupled as usual to the legs 9 of the .scale pans 7. To the centre of the stay (which has a looped portion 10<a>) is attached a plate 17 shown separately in Fig. 6. Three knife-edges on the plate are arranged in line, and bear upon vertical rods 14, 15 preferably faced with hardened steel. The rods 14 are preferably integral with a plate 12a secured to the middle cross-bar 12 of the machine and the bar 15 is attached to the lower ends of the bars 14.
