18,845. J³rgens, E. Sept. 19. Cooking stoves and ranges.-Relates to a cooking- apparatus with top and bottom heating-appliances and a basting-device located inside the cooking- vessel. The apparatus comprises a bottom heating- appliance a, a top heating-appliance c, and a cooking- vessel b. The appliance a is of a conical shape, and is provided with a pipe e for the removal of the products of combustion. Gas or any suitable fuel may be employed for heating purposes. The cooking-vessel b rests upon the appliance a, and contains the basting-device, which is composed of open tubes f secured to the vessel b by the rings i and stays h. The pipes are somewhat of a U- shape, and are of larger diameter at the bottom end, so as to better receive the gravy. A glasscovered sight-hole v can be provided in the vessel b. The upper heating-appliance c is placed on the top of the vessel b, and consists of a casing k with a perforated bottom s and holes l for air circulation. Firebars r and m are provided upon which glowing charcoal is placed. The casing may be closed by a lid q, and may be provided with an exhaust pipe. An igniter d, Fig. 3, is used to bring the charcoal to a glowing condition. The meat to be cooked is placed in the vessel b, and the heating- devices started. The gravy rises in the pipes f, and issues out upon the meat. One heating- appliance only may be used in connection with the apparatus.
