Cooking - stoves; grates and fuel-holders; casings.- A cooking-apparatus comprises a fire-chamber arranged in a water-jacket b which is enclosed in a box or casing a, the intervening space e being filled with paper, straw, or other bad conductor of heat. Heated air is supplied beneath the grate d by pipes k passing through the fuel space and opening on to the hotplate c. The combustion gases art of the waterpass through a flue f in the rear part of the waterjacket to the smoke-pipe. The vessel b is provided with a cock g for drawing off hot-water and a sediment pipe h. Cooking vessels i are suspended in holes in the hot-plate as shown. When cooking has proceeded sufficiently far, a lid f<1> is placed .over the opening of the pipe f and an in. sulating cover l is laid flat on the hot-plate, and cooking is completed by residual heat. As shown in Fig. 5, the cover l may be arranged to serve as a table when not in use on the stove. The stove is supported on a pedestal.which serves as an ice-chest and a food cupboard.
