Abstract

188,764. Golding, E. C., and Perks, C. Aug. 16, 1921. Window-blinds.- The rail at the free-end of a sun blind is supported at each end by an arm b, the upper end c of which engages the upper end of a link e pivoted to the arm b at f. The end c of the arm b is raised or lowered by an endless chain j, operated by hand or power, from inside or outside the building, a guide-wheel k ensuring the gradual projection of the arm b during the lowering operation. In a modification the end c of the arm b is attached to a nut working between vertical guides and through which passes a vertical screwed shaft rotatably mounted. A side wing, shown in Fig. 5, comprises a triangular sheet of fabric attached by one edge to a slotted arm m slidably engaged with the free end of arm b and pivoted, together with a number of spaced reinforcing ribs n, to a plate o mounted to rock upon a bracket p, one edge of the fabric being attached to the building. In a modification, Fig. 6. the fabric l is provided with eyelets g through which pass a cord r secured at one end to the arm b, the other end passing over a pulley s and carrying a weight t.
