WINDOW BLIND.

This invention relates to window blinds and has for an object the provision of an improved blind of the Venetian type which may be readily raised or lowered, or otherwise adjusted within a window frame or opening.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a blind which in addition to the above and other advantages is simple in 'construction, ready of adjustment and which will present an attractive appearance:

the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinaftermore fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claim.

opposite ends of the chains are secured to} the top and bottom of the frame as indicated -at 12 and the chains are spaced at relatively short distance from the opposite sides of the window frame. v

Slidable upon the chains 11 are slats 13 and 'for this purpose theseslats are provided withopenings 14 through which the chains 11 pass. Positionedvwithin the openings 14 are anti-friction devices or pulleys 15, the latter being mounted upon reduced portions 16 provided in plates 17 the opposite ends of these plates being secured to the slats as shown. The slats are thus capable of vertical movement along the chains 11, the latter passing through the slots adjacent one of their longitudinal edges. Passing through openings 18 provided in the slats 13 is a cord or cable -19, fastening means 20 serving to hold the slats relatively spaced upon the cord or cable. This cord. or cable 19 extends through guides or eyes 21 secured tothe top of the window frame.

-By pulling upon one end 'of'the cord or cable 1 9, the slats may be raisedto theto'o of the window. frame. the weight of the slats causing thel'jlattei'i to descend along the chains when thejc'ord is released. Due to the relative locations of the openings 14 and 18 through which the chains and cord pass, the slats may be' moved pivotally upon the chains to an open or closed position.
