188,512. Gregory, G. A., and Hill, W. J. Oct. 26, 1921. Axles and axle structures.-Means for retaining the wheel of a motor vehicle on failure of the axle comprise a strap of suitable spring material bolted at one end a to the back of the brake-drum, led around the wheel without touching it and clipped at c to a radius rod, and provided with a cranked plate b adapted to receive the axle-end and channelled to fit on to the strap. The end a of the strap is slotted to receive the bolt and is slightly turned up at its extreme end.
