Abstract

Centrifugal and screw Sprengel pumps. - In the centrifugal Sprengel pump shown in Figs. 1 and 3. the two ends of the, blades of the rotor a r e approximately parallel and concentric with the axis of the rotor so as to produce little centrifugal force. A stationary air inlet member 17 connects the inlet 24 to the rotor inlet ports 20 which are situated round part of the circumference of the member 17, the remainder of the circumference forming the water inlet. The screw Sprengel pump shown in Fig. 7 consists of two rotors delivering on opposite sides of the deflector 49. Each rotor comprises helical blades moving across the ports 62 of the inlet member. In both pumps, the form of the passages between the blades of the rotor is such as to avoid flattening or breaking of the slugs of liquid between which the gas is entrained.
