185,298. Wild & Co., Ltd., A. G., and Histon, R. July 26, 1921. Milling-cutters; cutters and cutter-bars. - Adjustable cutters for milling- tools, boring-bars, reamers, &c. are secured in a holder by means of longitudinal and transverse serrations formed on the cutters, the holder, and the locking-device. The holder a contains slots b, provided on the thrust side. with serrated surfaces c engaging similar surfaces at the back of the cutters d, and recesses for receiving wedge-plugs h, secured by bolts i, also provided with serrated surfaces g, engaging similar surfaces on the front of the cutters. The lines of the two sets of serrations are perpendicular to each other, and may be straight or curved, while the transverse sections of the teeth may be V- shaped, saw-toothed, or other form. When applied to boring-bars and reamers, the plugs are replaced by rectangular wedge-blocks secured by bolts, and have chamfered edges to clear the work and debris. The holder may be made of cast iron or mild steel, the clamping wedges and bolts of case-hardened mild steel, and the cutters of hardened tool-steel.
