Abstract
347,173. Saws &c. SPEAR & JACKSON, Ltd. and COOMBE, L. J., Aetna Works, Savile Street, Sheffield. Dec. 19, 1929, Nos. 38969/29 and 1753/30. [Class 145 (ii).] Inserted tooth saws or other rotary tools for cutting wood have the teeth undercut and tipped, faced or topped with steel or alloy known to have high cutting qualities which forms the actual cutting faces or edges. The steel or alloy insertions a may be let into recesses in the front faces of the teeth b, as shown in Fig. 1, or in the top surfaces, or may stand proud as shown in Fig. 3. Alternatively the insertions may be dovetailed into recesses in the teeth. The insertions may be made of alloy known under the Trade Marks " Stellite " or " Widid Metal" and may be secured by welding, brazing, fusion or mechanically. The insertions may be of varying thickness and may be flush with the adjacent edges of the teeth or may project to give clearance. Several teeth may be formed in a segment and secured in a recess in the body or holder. Specifications 5044/01, [Class 145, Wood &c.], and 202,649, [Class 83 (iii), Metals, Cutting], are referred to.
