Abstract

183,741. Williams, N. S. Sept. 6, 1921. Piston packing. - A split packing-ring of the kind provided with a groove having inclined faces 12, 13 engaging corresponding faces 5, 6 of the groove 3 in the piston 2, is formed with a bead or projection 14 adapted to engage a circumferential trough 7 in the groove. Oil collecting in the trough 7 is expelled through ducts 15 by the contraction of the ring.
