Abstract

Drying fabrics, fibres, yarns, and materials in long lengths.-Relates to the method and apparatus for drying textile materials described in the parent Specification, and consists in a method and apparatus wherein a part of the water in the material is expelled by steam and the remainder by warm air which is forced through the material. As shown in Fig. 2, the fabric is subjected to a steam-jet h and passed through a chamber t which communicates with the atmosphere and with a blower w through openings o, u respectively. The steam and water passing through the fabric is led to an air heater v, and the air supplied to the chamber t is directed over the surface of the fabric by a plate x. Fig. 3 shows a modification, wherein the drying of the fabric is completed upon a perforated drum within a cylinder which communicates with the atmosphere and an air suction pump through openings u, o respectively.
