Abstract

459,194. Drying &c. textiles. HARE, W., 29, Winton Avenue, Leicester. Aug. 2, 1935, No. 22000. [Classes 34 (i) and 34 (ii)] Apparatus for drying and/or conditioning textile articles and fabrics, comprises a perforated drum rotatably mounted within a casing and adapted to contain the articles to be treated, means being provided to supply air, hot or cold, substantially in a transverse-diametrical direction through the drum. In the construction shown, a reticulated drum 1 of wire mesh containing the articles to be dried is rotatably mounted within a casing 9 formed with two openings for communication with the inlet and outlet ends of the casing of a fan 16. The fan is driven by an electric motor 17 and blows air through a heater 10 and through the drum 1. The moist air passing through the conduit 19 is dried by means of an endless band 27 of absorbent material which travels across the path of the air. The band is dried by means of steam or other means provided within the rollers 30 on which the band travels. Means are provided for maintaining the band under sufficient tension. A byepass conduit 22 is provided by means of which cool air may be circulated through the machine. The drum 1 is provided with agitating members 35, which lift up the articles during rotation of the drum. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 207,125, 240,621, 255,563, 336,357, [all in Class 34 (ii)], and 388,555.
