Abstract

178,306. Hardy, W. E., Dodd, R., and Targett, W. J. March 31, 1921. Pistons.-In order to reduce the loss of oil in the cylinders of internal combustion engines, the piston is fitted with scraper rings which register with holes in the piston so that surplus lubricant is scraped from the cylinder walls and delivered back to the crank casing. The piston ring g is provided with an annular channel h which registers with holes j in the piston, and another piston ring k in the skirt of the piston has upper and lower channels registering with holes n, o in the piston.
