Abstract

177,952. Pattullo, D. L., Hardie, R. L., and Gauldie, K. Feb. 23, 1921. Feeding-devices for endless-belt elevators; jigging conveyers.-Loose materials such as root crops are removed from a heap by an upwardly inclined scoop which is advanced against the heap and maintained in a state of continuous vibration. The scoop A, Fig. 1, is suspended from a framework B and is vibrated by unbalanced weights E carried by a. rotating shaft F. As adapted for grading potatoes, an elevator G, Fig. 2, conveys potatoes from the scoop to a grading screen H which effects the separation of the ware from the seed and smaller potatoes. The former potatoes pass on to a picking band K and are delivered to a hopper N. The seed potatoes are separated from the smaller potatoes by a screen J and are delivered by a picking band L to a hopper M. The smaller potatoes pass into a hopper O.
