Abstract

716,208. Separating apparatus. WALKER, N. S., and STOCKMAN, L. April 8, 1953 [Jan. 9, 1952], No. 666/52. Class 117 Material to be separated is fed from hopper 46 on to a smooth inclined vibrating surface 1 so that the fines and smalls travel up the surface and fall on to a vibrating inclined surface 41 down which the smalls move more quickly than the fines; this surface discharges on to a further inclined vibrating surface 2 which discharges fines at its upper end and smalls at its lower end. The smalls delivered from surface 2 may be subjected to further sorting on surface 32 which has a baffle 34. All three surfaces 1, 2 32 are mounted on a variably inclined platform 22 and are oscillated by crankshaft 28 driven by motor 24 and all may have their inclination variable. The material may be sprayed with water and the surfaces heated.
