Abstract

654,661. Hopper. MORGAN, M. F. Aug. 1, 1947, No. 20973. Convention date, March 21, 1945. [Class 78 (i)] A method of feeding a sinterable mixture to a pallet comprises discharging the mixture of the material downwardly so that it is deflected angularly and passed through a passage and, at a point below the passage and above the pallet, re-mixing the mixture. Figs. 1, 2.-Material is fed from spout 2 reciprocated by eccentric 4 and falls into hopper B whence it is agitated and fluffed by mixing unit C and delivered to pallets C of a sintering apparatus. Hopper B is formed of sides 20, adjustable end plates 25 and 30, and deflectors 28. End plate 25 may be adjusted for height, and end plate 30 may be adjusted for inclination and include replaceable wear plate 33. The hopper has side pieces 40, 41 which are held between vertical plates 12 of the fixed frame A and it may be raised by levers mounted on frame A which co-operate with notches 42 of plates 40, the hopper being secured by bolts passing through holes 13 in plates 12. Mixing unit C.-Is formed of discs 55 joined by bars 56 round which is coiled rod 57, the discs 55 having axles 46, 47 which are elastically suspended by springs 49, 51 from hopper B and there being incorporated a vibrator 52 secured on axle 47, whereby the mixing unit is given a horizontal vibration.
