Abstract

177,621. Snook, F. J. Jan. 10, 1921. Opening by cutting.-The flanged slip-on lid c, Fig. 1, of a tin is fitted with a flat cutter a of approximately triangular shape held in place by the top and side flanges of the lid and by a clip d, Fig. 3, formed out of the top. The top and side flanges of the lid are cut away beyond the point of the cutter to enable the latter to be pressed into the tagger top b of the tin to cut the same. The invention is applicable also to tins of cylindrical or oval form, the shape of the cutter being modified to suit the configuration of the lid.
