Abstract

139,410. Coaker, F. F. Aug. 12, 1919. Lids.-A square slip-on lid of an hermetically sealed tin is provided with two pointed cutters, and one flange of the lid is hinged, as shown. On raising the hinged flange and sliding the cutters slightly inwards to puncture the top of the tin, the lid may be slid across the tin in two directions at right-angles, to cut out the sealed top. The hinged flange is provided with small flaps at either end, which are secured to the adjoining flanges by hollows and protuberances when the lid is to serve as an ordinary cover.
