Abstract

177,500. Bilde, T. E. D. March 21, 1921, [Convention date]. Switches, quick-action.-A push-button switch comprises an axially moving screw-shaped member 4 which transmits motion to a driving member 21 so that the latter, by means of two circular co-operating rows of teeth 19, 20, moves the rotary contact carrier 11 to cover contact springs 10 which may be directly stamped from the disc or carrier 11 to engage with contacts 14 on a circular row of teeth 13 fixed to the socket 1. The member 4 is prevented from rotating by lugs 7 on a member 8 engaging slots 6 in a sleeve 5. On releasing the button 3, the teeth 20 slide over the teeth 19 and the switch remains closed. Opening is effected by further operation of the button. By adding to the number of contacts 14, many group connections may be effected. For this purpose, a standard socket is employed having a comparatively large number of teeth, and one or each of the other discs 11 and 21 has the same comparatively large number of teeth. Figs. 9, 10, and 12 show a modification in which the ends of the contact springs 10 are of hook form to engage with upwardly projecting teeth.
