Abstract
765,181. Mechanical switches without quick action. WALTER INSTRUMENTS, Ltd. Dec. 16, 1954 [Dec. 16, 1953], No. 35097/53. Class 38(5) In a multiposition rotary type switch comprising a fixed annular contact-carrying member 1 and a rotatable circular contact carrying member 7 a plurality of radially spaced spring contacts 13, having jaws 14, 15 which are bent down so as to be disposed in slots radially cut slots 2 in the inner periphery of the carrier 1, are fixed to the carrier 1 by means of staples 17 passing through slots 4 and bent down to engage the contacts 13. For convenience in punching the slots 4 are joined by a connecting slot 5. The contacts 13 comprise pieces of strip metal bent to form the jaws 14, 15, and are of two lengths, the longer ones being in permanent engagement with an annular contact member 10 attached to the carrier 7, and the shorter ones being selectively engaged by lugs 12 attached to the member 10. The ring 10 and an additional ring 9 overlap the carrier 1 and serve to locate the carrier 7.
