Resistance ovens; electric stoves.-In a heating-element comprising two blocks 2 of insulating material carrying resistances on their upper surfaces, the upper surfaces of the blocks are slightly inclined to the horizontal and separated by an interval in which is supported a baffle-plate 9 projecting on either side above the resistances. The blocks 2 are secured to a. rectangular base 1 to which the baffle-plate 9 is secured by brackets 11. The element may be fitted in a recess 14 in an oven 12 which carries a water-tank 15 provided with projecting walls 16 forming a chamber 18, in which a second heating-element 17 is fitted for the purpose of grilling or heating saucepans or kettles. The element may be used in an ordinary kitchen range either alone or in conjunction with the use of coal.
