Abstract
172,339. Cruse, H. May 25, 1920. Coiled and sinous tube superheaters; straighttube superheaters.-In a vertical boiler fired by oil, gas, or pulverulent fuel, a group of smoke tubes j, conduct the combustion products from the top of the combustion chamber e, which does not extend above the water-level, down to an annular flue k at the bottom of the boiler, and a second group of tubes m conduct the products from the annular flue to a smoke chamber n around steam dome b. The first group of smoke tubes may be dispensed with, the products then pass downwards inside the combustion chamber around the incoming gases. Part of the products pass upwards through a central flue o opening into the smoke chamber through small apertures y. The central flue is fitted with a coiled or straight tube superheater u as described in Specification 172,568. Feed heating or steam superheating tubes 3 are arranged in the smoke chamber around the steam dome.
