Abstract
170,547. Haefely et Cie, Akt.-Ges., E. Oct. 16, 1920, [Convention date]. Transformers. - In a highvoltage transformer having coaxial windings, a hollow insulating-cylinder c surrounding the low-voltage winding a is separated from a larger cylinder g surrounded by the high-voltage winding h by an air jacket f of such dimensions that stratified or streamer discharges only can occur in the high-tension electric field. The cylinder c is provided with an earthed metal lining d, and the cylinder g carries a metal discharge ring i near the high-voltage end of the winding h, and an end ring p connected to the iron core b. The coils of highest voltage of the winding h are protected by a conducting-ring k with internal insulation m. In order to remove electric stresses between the winding h and the cylinder g, each coil of the winding may be electrically connected to a metal ring r on the cylinder. Specification 17528/14, [Class 36, Electricity, Conducting &c.], is referred to. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), states also that one or more intermediate insulating-cylinders provided with conducting sheaths connected to points of the winding h may be provided in the air jacket f in order to give any desired radial distribution of potential in the air jacket. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
