Abstract
617,660. Transformers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Oct. 11, 1946, No. 30422. Convention date, Oct. 12, 1945. [Class 38 (ii)] In order that the start and finish leads of the primary winding of a high-voltage current transformer may be substantially in the same circumferential and radial planes so that the coil and leads may be brought within an electrostatic shield to grade the voltage stress across the coil insulation, each flat strand, such as 16, of the conductor is in turn transposed axially in one direction by the width of a conductor then radially, again laterally in the reverse direction and again in a radial direction. Sharp bends are avoided to eliminate points of high voltage stress. Two-turn and duplicate three-turn coils are described.
