Abstract

170,430. Dicker, S. G. S., (Asfag Akt.- Ges.) Aug. 3, 1920. Hoods.-A folding hood frame comprises front and rear main stays connected in parallelism on each side, the front main stay supporting the hood midway of its length, auxiliary forwardly and backwardly extending stays, a tie-stay between the rear main stay or the connection between the main stays and the rearwardly extending stays, and an auxiliary connection between the main stay connection and the rearwardly extending stay. The main stays a, b are united at their upper ends by a bent bar e extended forwardly to carry the front stay f which is supported by a stay g. A jointed rearwardly-extending stay h is hinged to the stay b, supports a rear stay k and an intermediate stay m, and is connected to the upper end of the main stay b by a stay l. An auxiliary tie-stay p is attached to the bar e and has a slot r receiving a pin s on the stay h. The stay a has a crank t to which is attached a spring o, and is also connected to a lever preferably near the driver's seat. The end of the slot r contacts with the pin s during the raising of the hood to actuate the rear stays. Cords passing over pulleys from a control device may be attached to the hood to assist in folding.
