Abstract

166,201. Nixon, A. Jan. 22, 1919. Plastic compositions containing vulcanized fibre.-So-called "vulcanized fibre " in a ground or shredded &c. state is incorporated with caoutchouc or caoutchouc-like substances, with or without the addition of other substances. In an example, 20 parts of ground vulcanized fibre are kneaded with 10 parts of rubber and sufficient sulphur for vulcanization. The dough may be rolled into sheets and vulcanized. The composition is stated to be suitable for the soles and heels of boots &c., packing-rings and washers, electric insulation &c. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 4944/12 and 7864/14.
