Plastic compositions containing india-rubber, waste rubber, and substitutes.-A black rubber compound containing no litharge, consists of about 22lb. black bus or other tyre scrap, 101b. black rubber heel trimmings, spewings, or the like previously vulcanized or not, 31b. carbon black or other black pigment, 131b. magnesium oxide, “lb. sulphur, “lb. lime, 7lb. rubber reclaim preferably red, 4lb. raw rubber, and 2lb. floating substitute. The composition is vulcanized in an ordinary press for 25 minutes with 5 minutes blow, and is specially suitable for heels, tips, soles, and the like.
