Abstract

Articles for treatment and care of the feet are made of sponge or cellular unmasticated rubber having a porous superficial skin. The rubber is obtained direct from latex which is mixed with other known ingredients and whipped into a foam by means of an eggwhipping device as used by confectioners. A suitable mixture comprises rubber, sulphur, mineral oil, paraffin, accelerator, antioxidant, coco-soap, casein, serum materials in a 60 percent aqueous dispersion. When the foam is five times the original volume zinc oxide and sodium silicofluoride are added and the foam is poured into moulds and vulcanized at 100 DEG C. Shoe insertions and heel cushions, arch supports, corn protectors are among the articles produced. In some cases fabric may be stuck to one side of the article. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 332,525 and 332,526, [both in Class 70, Indiarubber &c.].
