Abstract

165,231. King, C., E., and Vauxhall Motors, Ltd. March 29, 1920. Cam gears. - To avoid noise due to impact in cam - gear, liquid is forced between two delivery movable parts of the gear during the non - operative periods so as to maintain a valve-lever or other valves-actuating member continuously in contact both with the cam and the valvemember, and during the operative periods the motion is transmitted from the cam to the valve through rigid members in contact with one another. The valve-lever b contains a plunger f sliding in a cavity k and pressed outwards against the valve-stem a by oil under pressure which may be supplied through the passages h, i, i from the force-feed lubricating system. In another form, a tappet-rod comprises telescopic members pressed apart by similar means.
